Why choose a balance bike?

A balance bike is perfect for practising for the real thing. Your child learns to steer, strengthens their legs and can already practise balancing. This helps your child develop step by step, both literally and figuratively. From laps around the living room to walks around the block, and maybe even rides to the petting zoo or playground. Going further each time, while they build coordination, motor skills and self-confidence without even realising it. But riding a balance bike is not only good for their development. The Urban Iki balance bike is a tricycle and balance bike in one. As a tricycle, the balance bike offers a lot of stability. This makes the bike, which can be set to different heights, suitable for the youngest (from 1 year old). Once they are a bit older, it can be converted into a balance bike. Balancing on it resembles real cycling. A balance bike is also better preparation for real cycling than using stabilisers. Challenging, but another big step. When you buy the tricycle, you have everything you need to convert it into a balance bike. All the mounting materials are included. The reverse is also possible: with the tricycle accessory set (sold separately), you can convert the balance bike into a tricycle. Great if, for example, a little brother or sister comes along!

When to choose a tricycle and when to choose a balance bike?

You can choose between a tricycle and a balance bike at Urban Iki. Each bike can be adjusted in height to fit your child. The front and rear wheels can be set to different heights, and the handlebar and saddle can also be easily raised or lowered. This allows the bike to grow with your little adventurer – from their first tricycle rides at 1 year old to real journeys around age 6. Tricycle

The tricycle is suitable for children aged 1 to 3 years, with a maximum weight of 20 kilograms. With a saddle height starting at 32.5 cm, the tricycle is ideal for little ones who are just starting their biking adventures.

Balance bike

The balance bike requires more coordination and control. As a parent, you can judge whether your little one is ready for a new challenge. To use the balance bike, it is recommended that your child can walk confidently.

The saddle height of the balance bike also starts at 32.5 cm and can be raised to 42.5 cm. This makes the balance bike suitable for children aged 2 to 6 years, with a maximum weight of 35 kilograms.

The Urban Iki balance bike is not only super fun and great for development, but also a delight to behold. The bike has robust, rounded shapes, light-coloured tyres and many stylish details, such as brown handles and a brown saddle. The curve at the bottom of the frame can also be used as a handle when your child is tired of riding. The balance bikes are available in three stylish colours inspired by beautiful Japan, where Urban Iki’s roots lie. Kochia Pink refers to the amazing Kochia flowers that bloom in Japan, while the colour Mochi Green is inspired by the Japanese treat Mochi. The geometry of the bike is designed with optimal balance in mind. The handlebar is made to ensure that it does not flip over easily. This prevents falls. The extra space between the saddle and the rear wheel ensures that the feet have enough freedom of movement while riding.
