What requirements should a good child bike seat meet?
A child’s bike seat has to be safe
Safety first! Safety remains the most important factor in choosing a bicycle seat. Therefore, bicycle seats must comply with the European safety standard EN-14344. This standard orders, among other things, that there may be no sharp parts on a seat, that the feet are shielded from the spokes, and that the seat belt and straps cannot be opened by the child itself. Also, it is advised to pick a seat with a belt that runs over both the shoulders and the legs for added safety. Urban Iki bicycle seats meet all applicable requirements and more. Our seats (up to 6 years) have been tested and approved by the independent German TÜV institute, and even meet the highly demanding Japanese safety standards!
