The wave pattern on the back of the seat is inspired by Japanese culture and traditions. These waves bring peaks of happiness — that’s the philosophy! Our warm grey color, Suzume Grey, is inspired by the elegant feathers of the ‘suzume’, also known as the sparrow. In Japan, the sparrow symbolizes freedom and resilience, qualities we want to impart to your little one during your bike ride together. Our beautiful brown color, Kuriiro Brown, is inspired by the warm shades of the Japanese chestnut, known as ‘Kuri-iro’ in Japanese. Just like the rich color of chestnuts, this shade exudes warmth and comfort, perfect for your little one to experience the best adventures with you on the bike!

Modern, affordable, and above all: completely Iki. That’s how we describe our U–me design. You probably recognize the soft shapes and the wave pattern that instantly gives you that Japanese Iki feeling. Thanks to the sleek line at the back of the bike seat, inspired by the automotive industry, this unique design has won an iF Design Award. This line not only gives a modern look but also contributes to the sturdiness of the bike seat. The design of the U–me rear seat focuses on head and side protection, giving you a sense of security when you’re ready to embark on an adventure together.

Unique 5-point harness system: safe and user-friendly

The 5-point safety buckle secures both the shoulders and legs, ensuring your little one stays firmly in place during a bike ride, even if they like to play with the shoulder straps. The left and right parts of the 5-point safety buckle can be clicked into the buckle separately. You can close it with one hand, leaving the other hand free to keep the bike steady. Safety first! The buckle can also be flipped forward, freeing up the seat area so your child doesn’t sit on the buckle. This gives you all the space you need to place your child in the seat.

Easy to exchange with other MIK accessories

More and more bikes are equipped with an integrated MIK HD system in the luggage rack. This allows you to quickly switch between different MIK accessories. At Urban Iki, we believe in the convenience of this system, so we have developed special MIK HD rear seats that can be clicked directly onto these racks. No additional mounting material or tools are needed!

Please note: the MIK HD system is not the same as the regular MIK system. MIK Heavy Duty is specifically designed to support the extra weight of a child seat.

Weatherproof in all seasons

Your front seat won’t stay wet after it rains. The material of the cushion is water-repellent, and rainwater naturally drains away under the seat. Perfect for Dutch weather and traffic!

Easily adjustable for optimal comfort

The U–me rear bike seat is fully adjustable for your child. The height of the footrests can be set in 4 positions, and you can easily click them from one position to another. The shoulder straps can be adjusted to 3 different heights. This way, you can always make the U–me rear seat fit perfectly, even for the smallest ones! The shoulder and foot straps can be easily loosened or tightened.

Ergonomically shaped seat

The seat of the U-me rear seat has a gentle, curved shape, providing a cosy and secure seating experience for your child. The ergonomic design ensures a firm yet relaxed posture. This way, your child stays comfortably seated in the bike seat, even during longer rides!

That’s why we always go the extra mile by testing our bike seats in our own testing facilities in the Netherlands and at our Japanese parent company. Japan is renowned for its high-quality and safety standards.

The independent German institute TÜV has tested and approved Urban Iki bike seats according to the stringent European EN14344 standard. Guaranteed safety!

Mounting guide Does it fit my bike?

Your bike is suitable for the rear seat with MIK HD mounting if it has a MIK HD luggage carrier. A MIK HD luggage carrier always meets the EN ISO 11243:2016 safety standard. You can recognize a MIK HD carrier by the letters ‘MIK HD’ on it. Note: just ‘MIK’ is not the right system. Read more in this blog about the specifications your bike must meet.
